Warhammer Online Official Newsletters - 2006 Newsletters

Development has begun on WAR’s next racial pairing – Empire vs. Chaos – and we offer you this brief introduction to our two opposing human armies. We’re warning you now; we’ll be slowly releasing new information and assets over the next couple of months so bear with us. Your patience will definitely be rewarded with some amazing concept art, career and systems information, and in-game footage. Sorry, but you Elf fans out there are just going to have to wait until 2007 before we deliver the goods that will send you into a frenzy.

It's monsters vs. mechanics in this month's Career Profile as we take a look at two of WAR's ranged classes, the Goblin Squig Herder and the Dwarf Engineer. Look for more career details and game system information in upcoming newsletters.

The Goblin Squig Herder
"…an' dis one's Chompy! Chompy's a right devil he is! Rip a bugger right in two! See dis scar 'ere on me arm? Dats ol' Chompy’s 'andywork! I'mna go grab ‘im… "
- Greenstumps, Goblin Squig Herder

The Dwarf Engineer
"Alright lad, now just pull here, twist, ratchet it down like so – don't forget to keep counting here, because you've got to get to the last bit before you get to five – and then throw it."
– Grom Goldcrank, Journeyman Engineer

This month's featured zone is Kadrin Valley, home of the famed Slayer Keep, Karak Kadrin.

Among all the warriors of the Dwarfs, the doom-laden Slayers are the most feared. Driven by some secret shame or disgrace, these fearless fighters have pledged to regain their honor by seeking death in battle. Upon taking the Slayer oath, a Dwarf severs all ties to home and family and wanders the world in search of his fate. Though they often travel alone, there is one place where the Slayers are known to gather in force. That place is Karak Kadrin, the Slayer Keep

"Warhammer is its own world that is very harsh and combat oriented. That’s not excluding magic either. Seeing the Fist of Gork slam down on the Empire would be…messy and wild to see! There are loads of imagery and depictions of battles that fit great in an MMO. Great terrains and battles fought with Hero’s on both sides provide such a dramatic backdrop, how can you NOT make a game based off that? The animosity between all factions and the whole aspect of a world at war is what I want show in Warhammer Online. It’s a war in a dynamic fantasy world that’s harsh and brutal. Sure there are beautiful vistas and views to be seen, but I’m more interested in where the metal meets the meat!"

 Developer Profile >>

"I want Warhammer to be a fun way for people from all around the world to meet, communicate, and learn about different cultures, shortly before bashing each other with big heavy objects."
